The SX620 HS is a compact digital camera with a zoom range equivalent to approximately 25–625mm, giving it considerably more reach than its small size might suggest.

Rather than using a controlled test chart, this page shows what the camera can do with a genuinely distant subject: the moon.

Canon SX620 HS 25× Optical Zoom Test

The moon is a useful subject for demonstrating the reach of a compact zoom camera.

At the wide end, it appears very small in the frame. Using the SX620 HS at the telephoto end of its 25× optical zoom makes it possible to bring the moon much closer without changing lenses.

This photograph provides a simple real-world example of the camera's long zoom range.

The result should not be compared with photographs taken using dedicated astronomical equipment or large telephoto lenses. The purpose of this test is simply to show what can be achieved with the zoom built into a small compact camera.
